OPEN SPACE

Where I live, there is a lot of open space. Land that has been purchased by the community, whether county, city or town, and now dedicated to remaining open, and undeveloped. It is often open to recreational use, hiking, and sometimes mountain biking on the trails. It is a fabulous community resource, and is well used, and sometimes certain areas need restoration, having been “loved to death”.

Back in the 1960’s when the residents first made the decision to preserve lands and tax themselves for its acquisition and upkeep, it was a very new idea. Fifty-plus years later, its proven its worth and it has added so much to the area.

A few weeks ago, I took a morning hike on one of my favorite nearby trails. I was a little late getting started, and the morning was already quite hot. That made it easy for me to be open to the idea of enjoying my surroundings and taking photos of the many blooming plants, as they were nearing the end of their season.

Enjoy the photo tour of my neighborhood!
