June 2017: I started writing Curioussteph.com with this: By day, I'm a retired family physician turned body-oriented psychotherapist. I garden, travel, am owned by 2 elderly cats, figure skate and am training for my first triathlon. April 2020: Three years later, the two elderly cats have crossed the rainbow bridge, and we now have an 11 year old adoptee, Ziggy. I'm done with triathlon and skating for the time being, and I am still physically active, running, biking and walking. It's now the time of the coronavirus, which is affecting us all. Coincident with that, my 90 year old father's replacement aortic valve is failing and he is now in hospice care. November 2020: I've added a new blog, Frog in a Hot Pot. Its of a more introspective nature, as I explore more of where I am in life and how it came to be this way, and how I find a way out of "hot water" View all posts by curioussteph
I had an old ice cream machine just like that I got at a swap meet. It was the “boys on bikes” favorite thing to get the ingredients and have a cookout in my back yard and make ice cream. https://marthakennedy.blog/2016/09/13/rad/

Home made ice-cream after a day on the bikes, I bet those boys were totally delighted! What a fabulous addition you were to their lives!
We had a similar machine when I was a kid (bucket painted blue is the only difference I can see) Got pulled out once or twice a summer.

I’m old enough to see both of these cranked at one time or another.
Have a fabulous day. ♥

Have seen only a few crank cars in my day, but I’ve turned many an ice cream freezer crank. Cheers to you!

some of them are very interesting, and a few are just . . . cranks!

Few things are better than home made ice cream! I don’t have the old fashioned crank kind of makers any more, but my electric one works pretty well. And some of my best childhood memories are of helping my mom turn the crank on our ice cream maker, knowing that the reward for all my efforts would be home made ice cream!
